Western Australia (WA) Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme

28th April 2026
Taxi car on the street

The Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) supports WA residents unable to use public transport due to a permanent disability by subsidising the cost of taxi rides. It was formerly known as the Taxi User Subsidy Scheme (TUSS), however, from 1 October 2025, TUSS vouchers can no longer be used to access subsidised taxi travel. If you have still not received a PTSS card in replacement, email ondemandtransport@transport.wa.gov.au or call 13 11 56.

Applicants who do not require a mobility device such as a wheelchair are eligible for a subsidy of 50 percent of an up to $50 fare and will be issued with a yellow PTSS card. If you do require a mobility aid, you will be issued a purple PTSS card and can be eligible for up to 75 percent of a fare of $70 when travelling in an WAV taxi.

Present your PTSS card to your taxi driver at the beginning and end of your journey and they will log your subsidy through the PTSS mobile app to calculate your portion of the fare, which you can pay however you prefer.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Australia.
  • Reside in WA.
  • Have been assessed as legally blind by a qualified medical professional.

To apply for the scheme, download and complete the PTSS application form. If you are travelling interstate, you are eligible to receive reciprocal subsidies but will need to contact OnDemand Transport and apply for an Interstate Voucher as your PTSS card will not work outside WA.
