Content Writer, SeeWay

Meet Lucy Carpenter, a communications professional and disability advocate. Lucy is passionate about impactful storytelling and using her lived experience of blindness to help others navigate life with low vision or blindness.

Having completed her Bachelor of Professional Communication in 2023, Lucy has experience in various areas of communication including content writing, internal communication, public relations, and social media marketing. Alongside her role at SeeWay, Lucy is the Internal Communications Coordinator at Guide Dogs Victoria.

Lucy has been an active disability advocate for almost ten years. Lucy was born with albinism and uses her personal story of living with blindness to enhance the voices of people with disability and advocate for the challenges that the disability community continues to face, pushing for change. Her advocacy work extends across Australia through social media, public speaking, and traditional media. Lucy is also a published author in the anthology ‘Growing Up Disabled in Australia’ and has been a finalist for several disability advocacy awards across Victoria. Lucy volunteers on the national committee for the Albinism Fellowship of Australia and is a member of the GlobalSkin Young Patient Leaders Council to raise awareness for albinism.

Lucy navigates the world with her black Labrador Guide Dog, Dottie, by her side. Dottie has been life-changing for Lucy in the four years they have been a working team and is her best friend.
