New South Wales (NSW) Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme
Eligibility requirements for and benefits of the NSW Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme.

The NSW Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme supports NSW residents unable to use public transport due to a permanent disability by subsidising the cost of taxi rides.
If eligible, 50 percent of your trip will be subsidised up to fares of $60. You can use a digital smartcard, which operates just like a credit card, to pay the subsidised portion of your trip. Then, simply pay your portion of the fare whichever way you prefer. Visit Transport NSW for more information on the digital smartcard.
To be eligible, you will need:
- To be a permanent resident of Australia.
- To normally reside in NSW.
- Be over school-aged.
- Not be a part of another state or territory's Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme.
- And have a permanent visual impairment (Available based on individual need and scheme criteria as assessed and recommended by your eyecare professional).
To apply for the scheme, download and complete the form or call 131 500 to have a copy mailed to you. If you are travelling interstate, you may still be eligible for a subsidised fair, however, you must apply for an interstate travel docket by applying through Transport NSW.
For more information, and to apply online with your completed form, visit Service NSW's website. You can also access a digital information booklet about the scheme.
