Tasmania (TAS) Taxi Subsidy Program
Eligibility requirements for and benefits of the Tasmanian Taxi Subsidy Program

The Tasmanian Taxi Subsidy Program (TSP) supports Tasmanian residents unable to use public transport due to permanent disability by subsidising the cost of taxi rides.
If eligible, 50 percent of your trip will be subsidised, for fares up to $50 total. If you are a wheelchair dependent member, you are eligible for 60 percent subsidised for trips up to $60. The subsidy can be accessed using a smartcard, which works like a credit card. Tap the smartcard on the payment terminal at the end of your trip to deduct your subsidy from the fare and then pay your portion of the fare whichever way you prefer.
To be eligible for the scheme, you must:
- Be a Tasmanian resident.
- Have a permanent disability which severely restricts physical mobility.
- Be a member of the Transport Access Scheme (TAS). Download the Transport Access Scheme Information sheet for more information about and how to become a member.
