Macular Disease Foundation Australia
Support for living with macular eye conditions.
Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) is a national charity dedicated to reducing the impact of macular disease, the leading cause of blindness and severe vision loss in Australia. MDFA supports 1.9 million Australians affected by macular disease, including diabetes-related eye conditions.

MDFA’s free services provide:
- Health information: Trusted, evidence-based resources about macular and diabetes-related eye conditions, plus non-clinical support.
- Practical advice: Guidance on navigating the health system, immediate care after appointments, travel tips, and everyday support.
- Emotional and peer support: Help with worries after diagnosis and access to online and in-person peer groups.
MDFA's friendly Helpline team, trained in eye health, is available Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm AEST on 1800 111 709.
Eye Connect is a free 12-month support program for people with age-related macular degeneration and diabetes-related eye conditions.
